Life Day 2009

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

A Wookiee holiday, Life Day was, celebrated by the inhabitants of Kashyyyk every three years. A celebration of the planet's diverse ecosystem and the many forms of life it was. A time to remember family members who became one with the Force, and the young ones who continued to bring new life to a family. A sacred holiday it was, and many Wookiees returned to Kashyyyk in order to celebrate it. Held every three local years, it was, for many generations, but during the Galactic Civil War and the Days of the Empire, grew its importance did to the Wookiees. Spread across the galaxy the Wookies were, either because they had been enslaved by the Galactic Empire or personal reasons, so began celebrating Life Day each year, they did, as a way to remain in touch with their history. Over time, the holiday found its way into various other cultures, including the Jedi on Corsucant. Because of the Importance of the holiday, each year I go to make sure young Wookies and Wookies at Heart, have a good Life Day they do.
