Disney/Star Wars Merchandise Empty
PostSubject: Disney/Star Wars Merchandise   Disney/Star Wars Merchandise Mvr9tgWed Jan 30, 2008 2:49 pm

Well, when Star Tours came out at Disneyland, they had just about every Star Wars toy available, but Disney wanted to do some exclusive stuff to bring Star Wars collectors to the park. They were able to strike a deal with Kener ( the company that made Star Wars Toys back then. Bought out by Hasbro a few years later) and made a set of exclusive action figures of all the Droids that you see in the Star Tours entrance and RX-24 A.K.A Capn Rex, this line however was ended in 2007. Even though you see C-3PO and R2-D2 in the entrance, they decided not to add those two to the line because they had been put in all the lines sold everywhere, and Disney wanted exclusive stuff. From that, they also made a few exclusive T-shirts, pins of characters from the Star Wars Saga, and also a miniature of the Star Speeder 3000 but that was pretty much it for quite some time. When Star Wars Weekends started, however, they made several new items exclusive to the event, such as pins posters and T-shirts, these were exclusive to the event mind you, but it started the thought processes for new items they could add for the Star Tours attraction. After the Jedi Training Academy took off, Several new items were added. T-shirts, bags, keychains, you name it and they stuck a Jedi Training Academy sign on it. In 2003, the Star Wars Weekends logo poster depicted Yoda standing back to back with Mickey Mouse in a Jedi Outfit, needless to say it was a huge hit. In 2004, Jedi Mickey made a return in some huge ways that changed the direction of Disney/Star Wars Merchandising. First off, a Jedi Mickey character would now be there for photos during the weekends and also a bean bag type toy of Jedi Mickey was released for the event. The item sold out within the first 2 of the 4 weekends so they decided to make a slightly different open edition of it (meaning not exclusive to the event and available all the time) and each year since SWW has had an exclusive bean bag toy. In 2005, they came out with an action figure set just like the poster from 2003, with Yoda and Mickey in Jedi clothes. It has since become incredibally popular and they decided that maybe a new toy line might be in order. Fast Forward to 2007, and you now see new pins with Disney Characters dressed as characters from star wars (including Stitch dressed as Evil Emperor Palpatine which is the pic u see as my avatar), and we also got an exclusive to Disney Parks action figure line of Disney Character dressed like Star Wars characters! Wave 1 of the set depicts the Disney Character as characters from the Original Trilogy which include, Minnie as Princess Leia, Mickey As Luke Skywalker, Goofy as Darth Vader, Donald as Han Solo, and Stitch as the Evil Emperor. These hit Disney shelves in September as shown here
http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/New_Disney_Star_Wars_Figures_108636.asp
Wave 2 which is due out this summer (just before SWW 08 ) is characters from the Prequel Trilogy including Minnie as Queen Amidala from Episode I, Goofy as Jar Jar Binks from Episode I (perfect casting if you ask me lol), Mickey as Anakin Skywalker From Episode III, and Stitch as Yoda from Episode II. Also, they are doing a set of Muppet Figures dressed like original trilogy Star Wars characters which should be out any time now, though i haven't heard any conformation of them being found. Also, the makers of Playskool's Smashing Success of "Darth Tater," which is the Unfryable Mr. Potato Head Dressed up like the infamous Sith Lord Darth Vader, not to mention the "Spud Trooper" (Potato Head/Storm Trooper), and "Are-Too Potatoo" (Potato Head/ R2-D2), have baked up Five New Spud Wars characters, that came out exclusively To Disney Parks. Spuda Fett (Potato Head/Bobba Fett), Darth Mash (Potato Head/Darth Maul), Yam Solo (Potato Head/Han Solo), Luke Frywalker (Potato Head/Luke Skywalker), and Princess Tater (Potato Head/Princess Liea) Are Now available for purchase at Disney Parks. More Info and Pictures http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Disney_Potato_Heads_Are_Out_109032.asp
Hurry up and get yours before they're Scalloped away, or you'll fell Au Gratin. (Ok i will stop with the potato jokes lol). Some Star Wars squeeze toys and others will be showing up at the parks soon as well as shown here

Every year about summer time Hasbro, who makes Star Wars toys, does a promotion where you get either a free action figure or something along that line if you buy a certain set of toys and send some stickers included to a certain place. The last two years it has been the more expensive "Vintage" figures which are really well done versions of old figures from when the movies came out, but this year they are doing it with a group of figures that fans voted that they re-release them. So what does this have to do with Disney? Well there are two reasons. Every year at Star Wars Weekends Disney World sales a boxed set with the characters you have to buy and the toy that you have to send out for included in it. And secondly, the pictures they are promoting of the figures say that the character you send away for this time is "Captain Rex," which is the name of the Robot Pilot on the Star Tours ride at the park. The site i read it at said it probably isn't but they really don't know how involved Disney is with Star Wars, and especially their toy line. So this could be interesting. You can read more about it here

Yet again, My Homies at Rebelscum.com have found yet another awesome set of Star Wars/Disney Merchandise. This Time it is a tin with two sets of Playing Cards, One for the Jedi, the other For the Sith. The Royal cards for the Jedi Deck are, Mickey as Luke Skywalker, for the king, Minnie as Princess Leia Organa, For the Queen, Donald as Han Solo for the Jack, Stitch as Yoda, for the Ace, and Chip and Dale as what appears to be some Ewoks, as the Jokes and for the Sith it is Stitch as Emperor Palpatine for the King, Daisy Duck as what appears to be Aurrora Sing, as the Queen, Goofy as Darth Vader for the Jack, Donald as Darth Maul for the Ace, and Pete as Boba Fett, i think, as the Joker. Action figures of Luke Leia Han the Emperor and Vader have already been released, so perhaps these other cards are perludes to the set that has been rumored to come out shortly before SWW? We shall see
